The CWU Museum of Culture and Environment will open the exhibit “Voices of the River: Life Along the Yakima” Wednesday, Jan. 9. This collaborative effort among Central students, faculty and artists brings both art and information together for a deeper look into the culture and history of the Yakima River.
Art Department chair Gregg Schlanger and Theatre Department assistant professor Mark Haniuk, will share their voices with installation and abstract landscape sculptures. Historical artifacts from the Museum’s own collection will also be on display. Both contributions showcase current views of the river and the cultural history of how the river has impacted the Yakama Nation.
Regular Museum hours are Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
