Another College Civics Week that students can take part in is hearing from Glenn Greenwald.
Political columnist and commentator Glenn Greenwald will be the keynote speaker at this year’s First Amendment Festival Monday, May 6 at 4 p.m. in the SURC Theatre. This event is free and open to the public.
Greenwald is currently writing for “The Guardian,” where his columns frequently alert readers to infringements on their First Amendment freedoms. Greenwald is the author of three “New York Times” bestselling books, most recently, “Liberty and Justice for Some”. He was also awarded the I.F. Stone Award for his investigative work on the arrest and oppressive detention of Bradley Manning, a United States Army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed classified material to the website WikiLeaks.
