The CWU Oxfam Club is partnering with the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) Big Work with Benjamin grant program to raise awareness of the world’s unequal distribution of food as well as highlight the current refugee movement in Syria and other West African countries.
Participants will be randomly placed into three categories: wealthy, low income and poor. The groups will then receive a certain amount of food based on their income group in this eye-opening experience.
Participants will also have the opportunity to experience the mock refugee camp, which demonstrates the lifestyle of refugees by highlighting specific refugee stories as well as replicating the poor living conditions many are forced to adhere to.
Event organizers hope to educate everyone on this social injustice and how to lend a hand for positive change.
The event will take place TONIGHT from 6-7 p.m. in the CWU Mary Grupe Center.
