CWU’s Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals (OPR) is held in high regard in Ellensburg for providing the best in outdoor recreation. OPR will further inspire seasoned adrenaline junkies and extreme sports newcomers alike when they host the REEL ROCK International Climbing Film Tour Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7:35 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Theatre. Get amped for the outdoors while watching films of professional rock climbers scaling some of the world’s most exhilarating rock faces. As a rock-climber, CWU student and OPR employee, Liz Jordan couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the event and encouraging people to attend.
“Everyone is really excited for the films because it’s incredible to see the feats that the climbers accomplish. The event would generally cater to people interested in outdoor recreation, but anyone can be motivated by these films, whatever their passion is,” Jordan explained.
Micah Wright, Central student an employee at the CWU Climbing Wall, also shared his insight into what makes REEL ROCK the toast of action film enthusiasts.
“REEL ROCK documents the cutting edge moments in the sport of climbing for the year. Last year, the film tour was the best I had ever seen. It certainly motivated me. Anyone with an appreciation for the outdoors, cutting edge achievements in sports or amazing cinematography would not be disappointed,” Wright added.
The REEL ROCK International Climbing Film Tour is recognized for bringing the best climbing and adventure films of the year to live audiences throughout the world. REEL ROCK is far from the average film screening – with a high-energy party atmosphere and prize giveaways this event should be at the top of every to-do list.
