Do you crave adventure and excitement? Then you’re in luck! Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals (OPR) is bringing some extreme winter films to the SURC theatre to share with the campus!
First, they’ll be showing Warren Miller’s “Ticket to Ride” on Nov. 14 at 7 and 9:30. Known for his film’s stunning cinematography and witty narrative humor, Miller’s film’s showcase the world’s most talented athletes performing death-defying stunts. “Ticket to Ride” is a display of some of the most action-packed skiing and snowboarding feats you could ever hope to see!
“‘Ticket to Ride’ really characterizes winter sports films,” said Trevor Bergstrom, CWU student and OPR employee. “It’s the 64th year of Warren Miller doing a film like this, and once it’s been shown you know winter has started. I went last year and the film was great and this year is supposed to be excellent as well.”
Then, on Nov. 18, OPR is bringing the Banff Mt. Film Festival to Central starting at 7:35 p.m. The festival features a variety of films that present the best of winter sports, including skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing and everything in between.
“Banff is a really big name, and we’re lucky enough to be one of their stops on an international tour,” said Bergstrom. “This film tour is great because it doesn’t just appeal to one type of person, so no one should feel alienated by them.”
So whether you’re into high-energy snowboarding tricks or just want to look at some breathtaking snowy scenery, OPR has the films for you!
Tickets for both events are $10 for students and $14 for general admission. They can be purchased at www.cwu.edu/tickets. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/cwuopr.
