CWU Celebrates Earth Week!

CWU loves to celebrate Earth Week, which is April 19th-26th. Check out the awesome activities CLCE has planned for the week!

The Yakima River Cleanup is Saturday, April 19th from 930am-1pm. Join the CLCE in this effort with the Bureau of Land Management, the City of Ellensburg, Fish and Wildlife, and Mid-Columbia Fisheries to clean up the Yakima River and the surrounding Ellensburg community. About 200 students are expected to participate. A “Breakfast of Champions” will be provided before heading to the clean-up locations and a pizza lunch upon their return. Volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt!

On Tuesday, April 22nd from 10am-2pm is ElemenTree in the SURC Pit for free. Come help 5th graders from Mt. Stuart Elementary learn about how their lives impact the environment and about what Earth Day celebrates. CWU and Mt. Stuart students will work together at Olmstead Place State Park in environmentally friendly and fun activities.

Olmstead Spring Cleanup is on Saturday, April 26th from 930am-1pm in the SURC Pit for free. Get out in the fresh country air and help preserve the past for future enjoyment. Olmstead Farm, one of the first homesteads in Kittitas Valley, needs a hand with maintenance projects. There will be a free lunch and t-shirt provided to all volunteers.

Also on Saturday, the 26th is Ellensburg Downtown Cleanup from 730am-11am. The Ellensburg community, in honor of Earth Week and in preparation for the busy months ahead, would like your help in beautifying our downtown area to make it shine like new. A free t-shirt and breakfast will be provided to all volunteers!
