Poet, creative writer Debra Marquart to visit CWU tonight.
The Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series at Central Washington University aims to bring together literature lovers, aspiring writers and published artists. The series returns tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Wildcat Shop for its second installment of the academic year, welcoming award-winning poet and author Debra Marquart as the featured writer.
Marquart is a professor of English in Iowa State University’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Environment program as well as the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast Low-Residency MFA Program.
Marquart’s publication portfolio is highlighted by two poetry collections, a book of short fiction and her memoir The Horizontal World: Growing Up Wild in the Middle of Nowhere, which has earned her the “Elle Lettres” award from Elle Magazine, a New York Times Editors’ Choice commendation, and the 2007 PEN USA Creative Nonfiction Award. She also has an extensive list of journal publications and features, as well as over 22 years of musical performance experience with her ensemble The Bone People.
So, essentially, we are in for a special treat.
CWU Hype will be in attendance, and we can’t wait to see you there too!
