Election Season has Arrived!

The Associated Students of Central Washington University (ASCWU) Student Government elections have arrived once again, which means (if you don’t already know) it’s time to inform yourselves on each of the seven positions that you will be voting on or even running for!

The seven positions up for grabs for the 2015-2016 school year and the students that currently hold each position are as follows:

  • President: Yosef Gamble
  • Executive Vice President: Nick Shuey
  • Vice President for Clubs and Organizations: Phil Rush
  • Vice President for Academic Affairs: Jennifer Treadway
  • Vice President for Equity and Community Affairs: Spencer Biallas
  • Vice President for Student Life and Facilities: Rob Lane
  • Vice President for Legislative Affairs: Cassie DuBore

For a full list of responsibilities and duties each of these positions hold, visit cwu.edu/ascwu.

If you have found yourself wanting to run for one of these positions, visit Campus Life in SURC 263 or cwu.edu/ascwu/election-candidate-registration to request your election packet and background check form. Completed election packets are due to the Campus Life Office in SURC 263 before filing closes on April 10th by 4pm!!

Even if you aren’t interested in running, be sure to vote! Voting is the best way one can voice their opinion.. You will not only vote on who YOUR new student government officers will be, but also on any ballot initiatives (i.e. new fees). By voting, YOU have the power to accept or deny what it is you are voting for. The most important thing as a voter is to be informed. So if you aren’t too sure what the Vice President of Academic Affairs is responsible for, visit cwu.edu/ascwu and learn! It’s that easy!

Primary Election ONLINE voting opens on April 20th at 8pm, Primary Election POLLING SITES open on April 22nd at 10am -7pm at the East and West SURC entrances.

The time is now to make a difference and impact the student body in a positive way. Get campaigning, Wildcats!
