On a Mission

The Publicity Center offers a full slate of creative services to promote campus events, programs and departments while providing real world experience to student employees through hands-on skill development, professional mentoring and portfolio development.

Our student-focused Hype team invites students to experience campus life through a variety of student-focused “Hype” platforms including publications, social media, and street team opportunities.

Favorite memory from the Publicity Center
Even though it’s incredibly hard to narrow down my time with Hype to a single favorite memory, the one that always pops into mind is when I was posting mid-winter with Jakob and Aubrey. We were on north campus and they both decided to jump (incredibly gracefully) over a giant pile of snow to get to the sidewalk. Absolutely positive that I could pull it off too, I jumped behind them and…totally bit it on the ice. I even dented my phone in the process! We all laughed way too hard for the rest of the shift and looking back a year later it’s still just as funny.

Post-Graduation Plans
I leave the day after graduation for Orlando, Florida! While there I will be a Professional Intern with Walt Disney World’s Public Affairs department where I’ll be writing for their internal communication magazine “Eyes and Ears”.

Why we’ve loved working with McKenzie
McKenzie is always willing to help, and goes above and beyond what is expected of her. We’ll also miss her mad photo skills!

Favorite Memory from the Publicity Center
The photo shoot we took for the CWU Wellness Center was pretty great. I remember not being able to lift my arms as Tyrell and Julia piled numerous jackets on me.

Post-Graduation Plans
I’m planning to stay in Ellensburg for another year. Currently applying to jobs as of now but hoping to work full time as a designer in Ellensburg or Yakima. I also plan to freelance more and continue to build my print/online portfolio.

Why we’ve loved working with Manny
Manny has always had excellent customer service, and clients often say they enjoy working with him. He also helps keep the office smelling good with his cologne!

Julia Moreno
Digital Journalism

Dean’s List Junior Year and Senior Year.

Favorite memory from the Publicity Center
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the memories I made with new (and old) friends every week in the office. I also really liked the turkeys, kitties and adorable dogs at Ricki’s house.

Post-Graduation Plans
I will be attending the University of Nevada-Reno to earn my Master’s degree in Journalism.

Why we’ve loved working with Julia
Julia is a go-getter, and loves interviewing various entertainers that come to campus. She likes to collaborate with other students, and keeps us laughing with her wit and humor.

Allie Nicole Quy
Elementary Education / TESOL

[While Allie will continue wrapping up her degrees in Elementary Education and TESOL, her departure from the Publicity Center warranted a spotlight]

Dean’s List every quarter at CWU

Favorite Memory from the Publicity Center
Pick-Up Line Video
and all the awkward interactions that occurred!

Post-Graduation Plans
Work in the Tukwila School District (2nd most diverse in the nation!). Eventually I want to venture out of America and go teach abroad.

Why we’ve loved working with Allie
Allie is unbelievably kind, and always has a big smile on her face. She is always willing to help and is very welcoming. Her positivity will be missed!

From your professional staff team, you will all be greatly missed! We are so excited to see where you take your talents next, best of luck in your future endeavors!
