It’s that time of year again when people swear they’ll start going to the gym twice a day or sleep 8 hours a night. That’s right, it’s time for New Year’s Resolutions.
I don’t know about you, but I have never been a fan of waiting for a new year. You don’t need a holiday to start going after what you want. All you need are some realistic goals and motivation.
Creating Your Goal
Here are some tried and true ways to make a realistic goal.
1. Make a list
Look back on what you wished you’d accomplished. Make a list of these things to reference later on.
2. Choose one goal to focus on
Start small. Pick one goal from your list that you know you can accomplish.
A goal I’m looking to tackle is eating right. It’s way too easy to eat junk food for lunch while I’m studying.
3. Make a plan
Think about your current responsibilities and the previous setbacks you’ve had. Take those into account when making a plan to accomplish your goal. You don’t want to set yourself up for failure by making unrealistic plans.
I know I don’t like working out at the gym, so I won’t make a plan involving going to the gym twice a day. That just won’t happen. For me personally, it’s more realistic to plan on exercising in my room.
4. Get started today!
Don’t give yourself any excuses, and don’t wait for tomorrow. Start chasing after your goals today!
