About Wild Fest

You’ve been working hard all year, and now it’s time to have some fun. We’ve put together a full day of live music, performances, activities, food and games, all completely free for CWU students.

This year, celebrate the day with Wild Fest, featuring headliner Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers. An NPR Tiny Desk Concert audition video launched Hobo Johnson & the Lovemakers into worldwide fame, with their hit song “Peach Scone” gaining over 13 million YouTube views. Later this summer, the band will perform at Bonnaroo music festival and Lollapalooza.

Seattle-area bands bed., DoNormaal and DedElectric will also perform throughout the day. Student performers include Peregrine Spane, Mikey O’Malley, Gultrixx, SP3RROW, and headliner opener John Thomas.

2:45 PM – 6:30 PM | Music Showcase featuring DedElectric, DoNormaal, bed., SP3RROW, Peregrine Spane, Gultrixx, and Mikey O’Malley

Additional Wild Fest events and activities include a graffiti artist showcase (1 – 4 p.m.), special tabling activities with clubs and orgs., inflatable bounce houses, outdoor lawn games, food vendors, merch tables, Monster Energy giveaways, Archery Tag, snow cones, ice cream, free event swag and more!

So what exactly is Wild Fest?

Wild Fest is a music event for students during Student Appreciation Day! There will be FREE live music, FREE food, FREE activities such as inflatables and archery tag, and more.

Special events include the annual Hip Hop Rodeo, a student artist showcase, performances by DoNormaal, bed., and DedElectric. Hobo Johnson & The Lovemakers will headline the show. You can view the full schedule here.

Who can attend Wild Fest?

Current CWU students who pay their student activities fee can attend Wild Fest. Students will need to swipe their CWU ID and sign a risk waiver to enter the venue.

Where is the event?

Wild Fest takes place at the new Recreation Sports Complex (RSC). The RSC is directly north of the new Dugmore Hall construction, at the corner of Wildcat Way and 18th Avenue.

What time is the event?

Various activities and performances will take place throughout the day between 1 and 10 p.m.  No entry into the venue will be permitted after 8 p.m. View the full schedule here.

How do I get into Wild Fest?

Students will need to show their CWU student ID, sign a waiver and have a wristband secured to their wrist to be admitted into the event. Students can sign waivers and get a wristband from 10 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on May 23rd, at the Wild Fest entrance.  You must have a wristband and your student ID to enter Wild Fest.

Where can I park? Can I walk to the event?

We strongly encourage students to walk to Wild Fest. If you need to drive to campus, please note there will be NO PARKING AVAILABLE at the RSC.

Will there be food at the event?

Yes! CWU dining will be providing a variety of treats throughout the day, including: 

– Early snacks from food truck: veggie & chicken quesadillas with condiments
– Mini burgers with potato salad, coleslaw
– Rice bowls with grilled teriyaki chicken skewers and Asian cucumber salad
– Spam Musubi with Chili-Lime Pineapple Skewers

Can my band play at Wild Fest?

Unfortunately, we have already selected bands for Wild Fest this year. Please check in with us about opportunities for next year!

If I leave the event, can I come back in?

Yes! You need to have your wristband secured to your wrist, and your student ID, to re-enter. No entry into the venue will be permitted after 8 p.m.

What if I lose my wristband during the day?

You can pick up another wristband at the Wild Fest entrance. However, you may have to sign another waiver and you must show your CWU student ID.

My friend who is not a student wants to come, can they come?

Only CWU students are allowed to enter the event venue. Students must have a valid CWU ID to get a wristband.

Can I bring a water bottle?

You may not bring a water bottle (reusable or disposable). Water and other food/beverages will be provided inside the event. No outside food or drink is allowed.

Can I bring my back pack or bag?

Wild Fest will provide you with almost everything you will need, including free beverages, free food, sunscreen, games, swag, and much more. Only CLEAR, SMALL bags or CLEAR fanny packs are allowed inside the venue. You may not bring a large backpack, or any bag that is not clear. Bags are subject to search at the entrance, and Wild Fest does not provide any storage options.

Do I need to bring money or my ID?

You do not need to bring money for food, beverages or activities. If you’d like to buy band merchandise, bring some cash. You must have your student ID to enter the event venue.

Are photos/videos allowed inside the venue?

Yes! We encourage students to post on social media using our Wild Fest filter and #WildFest19. No professional cameras (with detachable lenses) or drones are allowed inside the venue.

Are animals allowed inside the venue?

Service animals or those in training for guests with disabilities are allowed inside the venue. All other animals are prohibited.

Can I drink, smoke or use my vape pen at the event?

Smoking, vaping and drug use of any kind is prohibited at Wild Fest.

Is there a dress code? What should I wear?

There is no specific dress code, but attendees must wear nontransparent tops, nontransparent bottoms and footwear inside the venue. Plan for warm, sunny weather during the day (think hats, sunglasses), and a potentially breezy evening (flannels, jackets).

Where do I keep my stuff at the event?

You are responsible for your own items at the event. Only CLEAR, SMALL bags or CLEAR fanny packs are allowed inside the venue. We do not have lockers or a place to store items during the event.

Will there be a first aid station? Lost and Found? Sunscreen

During the event, you can visit the Wild Fest info booth at the southeast entrance for first aid, lost and found, sunscreen, and additional information.
